Genres
Genre is a French word that means type or kind. So, the genre of a book is a literary composition or writing characterized by a particular style, form, or content. Genres of literature are important to learn about. This year we are studying literary genres and in reading workshop we will be reading all genres. The two main categories separating the different genres of literature are fiction (made-up story) and nonfiction (based on fact).
