Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Alex Lorber and I am your child’s reading, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, writing and social studies teacher this year. This will be my thirteenth year teaching at Wilson Creek Elementary and I absolutely love it!
I have a BFA from Providence College in Rhode Island and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University. During the 2005-2006 school year, I was named W.C.E. Teacher of the Year. In 2007, I was nominated a Turner Broadcasting Teacher of the Year.
I was designated a "Master Teacher" by the Georgia Department of Education in 2010; based on demonstrated excellence in student achievement and student growth. In 2011, I became a certified Talented and Gifted teacher. In 2012-2013, 2013-2014, and in 2014-2015 I was named as one of the district’s top 25% of teachers to show student growth. In 2016-2017 I was honored to be nominated once again for Teacher of the Year.
I believe in creating a safe and positive classroom experience for all of my students; one in which inspires strong character, promotes intellectual, social, and emotional development; and challenges all students to aspire to their personal best. I want them to be successful in and out of the classroom, and to that end, I have very high expectations and I will let my students know what my expectations are each and every day. With that in mind, I expect them to work hard and strive for excellence. I will guide them to reach the goals they set so they can achieve success in the classroom while having FUN at the same time! My goal for them this year is to become lifelong learners, problem solvers, and creative thinkers.
I look forward to an awesome and exciting year! I have an open door policy, so please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child.
